Easy Marinara Sauce


  • 2 14.5 ounce cans tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup onion, diced
  • 2 tablespoon garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon basil


  1. Pour tomatoes into a bowl, and crush them with a large spoon or a potato masher.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large pan on medium heat. Add onion and cook until softened, about 8 minutes, then add garlic and cook for about 3 minutes, stirring frequently so it doesn’t burn.
  3. Add the tomatoes you crushed, then stir in red pepper flakes, oregano and salt and basil. Simmer for 15 minutes. Makes about three cups.
