Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup salted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 cups allpurpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips (12 oz)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Line three baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl mix flour (3 cups) baking soda (1 tsp) baking powder (1/2 tsp) and salt (1 tsp). Set aside.
  3. Cream together butter (1 cup) and sugars (1 cup of each) until combined.
  4. Beat in eggs (2) and vanilla (2 tsp) until light (about 1 minute).
  5. Mix in the dry ingredients until combined.
  6. Add chocolate chips (2 cups) and mix well.
  7. I use a small cookie scoop to get the cookies uniform in size. The cookie size makes a difference in the cooking time so watch them closely.
  8. Bake in preheated oven for approximately 8-10 minutes. Take them out when they are just barely starting to turn brown.
  9. Let them sit on the baking pan for 5 minutes before removing to cooling rack.
  10. These are great cookies to freeze. When you put them on your parchment sheets, you can put them close together freeze. Once they are frozen, put them in a ziplock bag and put them back in the freezer.

  1. Bake from frozen: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (ONLY if you are baking the frozen dough) and put the cookies in the oven in the beginning of the preheating time. (So put the cookies in the oven as you preheat it). Set the timer for 15 minutes and remove the cookies after 15 minutes.
